Smart Buckle is a fitness and sleep tracker that replaces the buckle on any classic watch — turning heirloom and designer timepieces into health trackers without altering how they look or feel on the wrist.
Built around a custom miniaturized sensor array (3-axis gyroscope, motion sensors, IP57 dust- and waterproofing) packed into stainless steel hardware sized to fit standard 20mm watch straps. A week of battery life from a 60-minute charge.
I led the design across industrial design, CMF, and the companion charger — miniaturizing the electronics into the smallest possible form factor while matching the proportions and finish quality of a classic Swiss watch buckle.
Built at Gooseberry, a studio focused on extending the life of products people already own — Smart Buckle lets a watch that's been in the family for generations join the era of wearables, without becoming one.
